Tuesday
For me, I don't ask for much because there isn't much I actually want. Any time I want something, I have been blessed with a family who come through for me and get it for me even if I don't ask for it. With all the crap that has been going on around here this year, they still don't make an exception. On Tuesday after I had made my last post, a package came in for my brother. I happen to be getting ready to leave and texting with a customer when the FedEx driver showed up, so I grabbed the box, put it in the car and took off. I took note that the bottom of the box was slightly open, let my brother know about it, and moved on because I didn't really have time for it since I had just decided to stop by and see my customer before picking up Midget, and it was almost 2:30.
After finishing up with my customers (who went ahead and placed their orders for next week, thanks ladies!), I went about my usual of going to sit in the car rider line for the school, picking up Midget and heading down the road. After Midget had gotten done texting my brother, he let me know that the gift was for me.
At this point, we're just a couple of minutes down the road from the house, and it hits me of what it might be. Now, I give Midget lots of props on this one. He did not let it slip of what it was at all, which was probably hard for him. He hasn't had to keep many secrets from me that are about me in his 15 years. I glanced over at him and went, it's a Switch, isn't it?! He immediately said I can't tell you.
We got home, and because I want to show him that even if he uses my phone to talk to people, I won't be nosey into the conversation, I delete the whole conversation that has been had with my brother since he got his phone. Then Midget tells me I am to open the box when we get inside. I ended up double checking with my brother to make sure and then opening. I was right, it's a Nintendo Switch. Not only is it a Switch, but it's a Pokemon Let's Go Eevee Switch. At this point, I'm a roller coaster of emotions because I didn't want my brother to spend money on me, I really appreciate this thoughtfulness of him and Midget getting it for me, and I hadn't planned on getting one for a while with everything we've had going on this year. It just wasn't in the cards for us to get one for me yet.
Since Midget didn't have school Wednesday, I ended up ruining my schedule for the week by staying up all night playing the game. Oopsie! But I've had fun with it since I got it and really do appreciate my brother getting it for me as a birthday/Christmas present from my son.
Wednesday & Thursday
Wednesday really didn't end any earlier for me, thanks to pricing stuff for "Black Friday" and deciding to stay up until my brother got here to get Midget and head to Virginia for Thanksgiving.
The first thing I have to say is, don't tell people the day before a major shopping day that you want to get a high ticket item. It doesn't give them time to plot, scheme, and plan how to get it. Finding out which store has the best deal on a Play Station 4 wouldn't normal be an easy, 15 minute task, but luckily my brother had already scoped out the Reddit page, and found the deals thread. Talk about making it so much easier than normal. Unfortunately though, we weren't able to get the deals online when they went live, so the person ended up in the "Black Friday" line Thursday night to get it.
While looking for the deals and trying to see if anyone still had one online (they sold out within moments of going live everywhere), I saw a laptop like I've been wanting to replace the one I use now (it's getting old and slow, and isn't ideal for gaming anymore). When my husband woke up, I let him know about it. Much to my surprise, he said put it on the card. I was like huh? He said we had been talking about getting me a new one (but he was thinking desktop) and since it was on sale, go ahead and get it. So that is going to be another Christmas present for me.
After a brief nap, we headed out to my sister-in-law's house for Thanksgiving dinner. We've got new munchkins to spoil this year (my husband's cousin and wife are foster parents, and they have three little girls and a teenage boy now) so it was nice to get to meet the little ones and to see the rest of the family. I was so glad my husband's grandfather was able to be there. At times, he is the only reason I have found to go to family functions.
After getting back home, I got a text from my brother. There's a Switch game really cheap right now that wasn't in the ad. Can you see if your store has it? Now here I am, trying to avoid the Black Friday crowds like they are the plague, and he wants me to go out into it. Ugh. Try as we may, the store close to him doesn't have it and he can't get to any other of those stores in time. I call my local store, they have 2 copies, and they are unlocking the cases at 6 and just handing out the games people want. I have less than 20 minutes to get hubs up and get there. He dropped me off at the front door at 1 minute to 6. I get to the games, they haven't unlocked the cases yet. I ask a guy where the game is, and it's in the next case he's unlocking. I get both copies they have (what we needed for presents). It's a successful trip. Then the waiting in line comes. Almost a hour after being in line, switching lines (from a slower one to a faster one), and finally getting through the register, we are out of the store, and free!
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Friday was a bunch of the same. We decided to go out to the store late, ended up looking for and getting another video game (damn that store in my parents' town for being so small), and getting a few more presents. Between that shopping an the little bit of online shopping we did after we got home, most everyone has been covered or we already know what we're getting them. Yay for less stress near Christmas! We spent most of the rest of the weekend playing Everquest, sleeping, and watching a few football games. Was so happy to see the Wildcats stomp the Cardinals. And that LSU and Texas A&M game, seven overtimes! Wow that was fun to watch.
This week
This week is starting out with cold and snow. I'm hoping it will be a good week. I have to figure out a balance between work and home, because my Avon suffered a lot this past week even though I knew I needed to do stuff with it. Heck, it even took me longer than I wanted to write this post because I started it Sunday afternoon and am finishing it Monday morning. I know I don't have to push myself, but I want my Avon to become a career for me, and I talk a lot of talk, but I haven't done everything yet to make it what I want it to be. I either spend too much time on it and not enough on the family, or a lot of time with the family and not enough time on Avon. I have to find that happy medium, and soon so I can stop beating myself up about it.
I can say, I am one spoiled woman. I have a husband that gives me everything I want, and causes me not to have needs by doing it. I have a brother who is there through thick and thin, no matter how much we get frustrated at each other. I have a son, daughter, and son-in-law that do more than they ever will know, and that's just by being in my life. I have all of this, yet I can't figure out why I have the depression I do, or what I can do to ease it. In my eyes, I have no reason for it, and should be able to shake it. Oh, well, I'll leave that to ponder for another day. Today, back to Avon!
