I am unfortunately at creature of habit, so I dislike changing things up normally. Avon has helped me with this because in order to find customers I have to change what I normally do or I won't be able to grow my business. Because of this, I currently have 22 (!) businesses to leave brochures at (for their customers and/or the employees), several customers I try to see every couple of weeks, and am always in search of new ideas or places to put brochures at while I am out. I unfortunately don't always have the courage to ask people, or ask for information from them to follow up with, but when I do, I go all out (16 of the businesses I got in one day because I was determined to make a dent in my business).
Getting out of the house isn't as hard for me to do right now with taking my son to school and picking him up everyday, but staying out of the house or spending more time out of the house than in it still is. I have days where I just want to hide for no reason. Then there are days like today where I have a sinus infection, don't want to go to the doctor, but am physically exhausted just from typing. But now, I also have days where I have to leave the house to deliver brochures, deliver orders, and collect orders. These are the days that make the difference between the me now and the me 11 months ago. I didn't want or have to go anywhere back then, and I didn't.
Making friends has been hard for me ever since I moved to Kentucky. By not wanting to leave the house, I hadn't had a reason to meet people to become friends with. I would meet people when I worked, then just lose contact with them because I would get "busy" or just not want to go anywhere to see anyone. Now that I've become an Avon representative, I have made a lot of new friends (my mentor, her team, and a lot of other ladies and gentlemen in the Avon world), along with people in my community I look forward to seeing, and even worry about. I have one customer who found be because she ran out of her face cream, and it's the only one shes used in 30 years (!). I stop by to drop stuff off, and end up spending hours there, not only talking to her but to her husband also. I stopped by this week to drop off her order, and she asked me to come back because her husband just got out of the hospital. I didn't go back today because of my sinus infection, but I'm hoping I feel better by Friday so I can stop in and check on them.
I have been very lucky to have been able to accomplish all of my goals, and make new ones throughout the year. While I am still having a hard time getting some of the newer ones done, I am happy that I am continuing to progress forward. My current goal, and hardest one yet, is to try to earn a trip to Los Cabos, Mexico. Now, I have to work on finding people who want to use Avon and being a representative to reach their goals, which in turn will help me reach mine. I think I'm looking forward to helping them reach their goals more than reaching mine at the current moment. I love the opportunities I have received from Avon, and want others to share in the success, camaraderie, and friendship that comes with being an Avon representative.
